BIO
Chantal Hediger (b. 1974 in Aarau, Switzerland) is a contemporary painter based in Schmerikon, Switzerland. Working primarily with oil and acrylic on linen, she is best known for compositions in which organic forms, botanical fragments, and landscape-like elements intersect with linear structures and spatial constructs. Her paintings often oscillate between interior and exterior worlds—suggesting rooms, gardens, and man-made environments simultaneously - while vibrant, saturated color palettes and softly layered surfaces create a visual language that merges natural abundance with human-imposed order.
Her work explores the tension between organic growth and constructed environments, perception and memory, and the emotional resonance of place. Characterized by an interplay of figuration and abstraction, her paintings evoke shifting terrains shaped by both nature and inner experience. A significant milestone in her practice is the series Places of Abundance, a body of work that marks a turning point in her artistic journey. In this series, Hediger discovered new technical possibilities while merging the contrasting influences of her Swiss and South African heritage, contributing to the development of her distinct visual language.
Chantal Hediger’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at Museum/Kunstraum Zeitfalten in Uznach; Galerie Bachlechner in Bergdietikon; Galerie le Sud in Zürich; the Marlene Yu Museum in Shreveport; and the Gebert Stiftung für Kultur/Alte Fabrik in Rapperswil. Her works are held in the Rainforest Art Foundation and the Marlene Yu Museum in the USA, as well as in the corporate collections of Baupool Baumanagement GmbH in Zürich and the Raiffeisenbank Aarau-Lenzburg, alongside numerous private collections worldwide. She has participated in the Brewery ARTWALK in Los Angeles, ART Innsbruck, Kunstmesse Salzburg, Immagina ARTE in Fiera in Bologna, and Frauen im Bundeshaus in Bern.
